With its broad, curving boulevards lined with hundred-year-old oak trees, Myers Park is considered by many to be the most prestigious neighborhood in Charlotte. In 1911, esteemed landscape architect John Nolen designed Myers Park as Charlotte’s first planned suburb, shaped by the line of the streetcar, which brought residents into the city. Mature oak trees were brought in and planted along the roads and many remain to this day, providing a canopy that is iconic in Charlotte, particularly along Queens Road, which is also known as the “Booty Loop” – a popular spot for cycling and home to the 24 Hours of Booty charity event.
Myers Park is a mix of historic homes and new construction, where Queen Anne and Tudor style homes abut contemporary and modern new luxury homes.
Find boutique shops and restaurants along Selwyn Avenue and Providence Road and East Boulevard.
Freedom Park, which covers 98 acres between the Myers Park and Dilworth neighborhoods, is a popular spot, where people gather for picnics, to play a game of soccer or walk around the lake. Adjacent to the park, Discovery Place Nature educates children with exhibits and live animals, as well as nature trails that surround the property.
At the center of the neighborhood, Queens University is a private liberal arts university founded in 1857.
Also part of the Myers Park neighborhood, Wing Haven Garden and Bird Sanctuary is an English garden design that is home to 150 different bird species. The SEED Wildlife & Children’s Gardens provide hands-on nature programs for children.
Little Sugar Creek Greenway follows the creek through Myers Park, connecting it north to Uptown and south to Park Road Shopping Center. The greenway will eventually cover 19 miles from the University City area to the South Carolina state line.
